In Switzerland in 2022, before Help My Mates had a website, organisation or platform, Thomas explained his idea for helping animals to a woman he did not know. She gave him CHF 20 specifically to help animals.
"We may never know the name of Donor #001. But we'll never forget where Help My Mates started."
In September 2026, founder Thomas Gosewinkel personally committed A$500 to building Help My Mates — covering website, domain and startup costs. This is founder/startup funding, not an animal donation.
Thomas has committed his first 100 hours of founder time to building Help My Mates.
